Homemade takeout. It's great for when you want the satisfying crunchy saucy chicken but don't wanna feel bad about it afterward... because of the ingredients or the money. My favorite thing to order is sesame chicken. I love how crispy the chicken is, even the next day from the fridge. I also love when the rice and the broccoli get all saucy. It's so good. I've tried a few different homemade take out recipes and I've been disappointed. Either the sauce wasn't flavorful or the chicken wasn't crisp. Hopefully this will satisfy you like it has me. We made this for our movie night and thoroughly enjoyed it. So, let's make Sesame Chicken together... The first step is to make the sauce and have it heating/thickening while we make the chicken. In a small sauce pot put all of your sauce ingredients: 1/2 cup ketchup 1/3 cup of honey 1/3 cup coconut aminos (or soy sauce if you're into that. I'm not though) 2 T sesame oil (preferably toasted) 2 cloves of garlic minced PLUS 2 tsp garlic powder 3 T brown sugar (you can definitely use coconut sugar! I just didn't have any) 1 T sesame seeds Whisk together and place over med-low heat for about 10-15 minutes (while we make the chicken) Also, if you want a little heat add some red pepper flakes. Cut up a pound of chicken into bite size pieces. You can use breasts, thighs or tenders. pour two whisked eggs over the chicken and use tongs to mix it well In a small bowl get 1/3 cup almond flour or coconut flour 1/2 cup tapioca starch or arrowroot powder or cornstarch 1 tsp paprika, 2 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper Whisk together and pour over the chicken use the tongs to coat all the chicken, it'll look like a wet batter. Heat half an inch of oil over medium high heat Fry chicken for 2-3 minutes on each side as the chicken gets finished, let it drain on a paper towel lined baking sheet and keep warm in the oven until all the chicken is cooked Whisk in 2 T cornstarch with 2 T water into the sauce Stir in the chicken making sure it's all coated sprinkle a T of sesame seeds over the top Serve over steamed rice and broccoli Let me know if you make this recipe by taking a photo and tagging me @MartinezMade_ on Instagram or use the Hashtag #MartinezMade.
