This is for those times when you want a totally homemade dessert but you don't want to take the time to make an entire apple pie... all that peeling and slicing and don't get me starter on the baking time. This dip is creamy and fluffy and full of all the flavors of an apple pie. It's easy to store and therefore easy to make ahead of time. Plus, serving it with hot fresh Pie Crust Bits make it to die for. Such a good dessert for entertaining! You can easily whip up the dip and have it in the fridge and you can prep your pie crust (rolled and cut up) and have it in the fridge just until your guests come, then pop them in the oven so you can serve them as they should be. The bonus is that your house will smell like fresh baked pie but it literally took a fraction of the effort. But I promise you this is every bit as decadent as apple pie. Let's make dip... Okay, in your mixer bowl get 8 oz cream cheese 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/4 granulated sugar 2 T cinnamon 1/4 tsp nutmeg 1/4 tsp ginger 1/4 tsp allspice 1/4 tsp cloves Mix them on medium speed with the paddle attachment until completely combined. Next pour in 1 1/2 cups cold heavy cream. Switch to your whisk attachment and whip together for about 3 minutes. Until everything is nicely combined and fluffy. (put it in the fridge until you're ready to serve) Roll out some pie dough into a rectangle. You'll need some sugar for sprinkling and 1 egg yolk whisked with 1 Tbsp water for brushing. Brush on your egg yolk and then sprinkle generously with sugar. We want the egg yolk for two reasons, it'll make our crust get dark and shiny in the oven plus it'll help our sugar stick. Using a pizza cutter or a sharp knife trim your edges so they're pretty Then cut into strips. You'll want them to be bite sized so that no one has to worry about double dipping. Place them onto a lined baking sheet. At this point you could cover the whole sheet in plastic wrap and keep it in the fridge for later or just bake right away. Bake at 400 until golden brown, about 15-25 minutes. You see the one bit that didn't get brown? haha I have an oven thermometer that hangs on the top rack and it was covering that one piece just perfectly. Serve HOT alongside that cold creamy dip. (if you have leftovers, reheat the pie crust in the oven at 450 for 5-10 min.)
