Who the heck are you?
If you clicked on this tab then I guess you want to know more about me. So, here goes.
I'm Emily Martinez. Wife of Jeremy Martinez, daughter of Rachel and Jimmy, sister to Sarah, Katie, Mary, Grace and Allison. There isn't too terribly much for me to tell you aside from the most important thing. The gospel of Jesus Christ. I first truly heard this gospel message when I was in seventh grade. The message that even though I believed God to exist it didn't mean a whole lot if I still lived in rebellion against Him, that my rebellion, my selfishness, my sin was against a holy, triune God, the one who created the universe, that the God of the universe would also be the Judge of all, a perfect Judge, not letting any sin go unpunished. This perfectly just and holy God is also gracious and patient. Gracious to not make me pay my penalty now, but patient with me, allowing me to turn to Him. He sent his Son into the world to save sinners, to pay their penalty for them. He died to save His people, His Church. That any that repent of their sins and believe in Him would be saved, Christ's blood would cover them and their debt would be no more. By the grace of God the Holy Spirit changed my heart. My heart no longer wanted to rebel against God, but my heart longed for the things of God. When I sin now, my heart hates it when it used to love it. Thank God that He continues to sanctify me until the day I die, continually making me more like Him.
The call of the gospel is to repent and believe. Repent of your sins and believe in the person and work of Christ.
J. I. Packer says this, "Jesus the Lord, like His Father, is holy and pure; we are neither. We live under his eye, he knows our secrets, and on judgement day the whole of our past life will be played back, as it were, before him, and brought under review. If we know ourselves at all, we know we are not fit to face him. What then are we to do? The New Testament answer is: Call on the coming Judge to be your present Savior. As Judge, he is the law, but as Savior he is the gospel. Run from him now and you'll meet him as Judge then- and without hope. Seek him now and you will find him (for "he that seeketh findeth"), and you will discover that you are looking forward to that future meeting with joy, knowing that there is now "no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" (Rom 8:1) So-
While I draw this fleeting breath;
When mine eyelids close in death;
When I soar to worlds unknown,
See thee on thy judgement-throne;
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in thee."
